Personal History
Early life: Syd was born and raised in Rochester, New York. Her parents, Clara and Scott came to the United States from England a few years before Syd was born. From early on it was known that Syd had a knack from technology since her parent were clearly technologically inept. Soon enough Syd was ripping apart Windows programming, building her own little operating system.
When Syd finished High School at age 18, she did a ton of research into what she could do with her skills, where she could do the best with her work. On a whim, she joined the US Air Force, where she also could also obtain a post-secondary degree. Once she obtained her degree she was promoted to Second Lieutenant after completing the requirements to become an officer.
It was a few years later that she met a man by the name of David Mutz, a Captain in the Air Force, at a bar no less. They both were working under different commands, so their relationship was not against any regulations. They married when Syn was 24 with the rank of First Lieutenant. Very soon after that it was discovered that they were going to be starting their little family in no time and their daughter was born, Aeryn. David was part of the SGC on an SG team, constantly going on missions though the newly formed Stargate program and Syd had been working at either Area 51 or at the near by Air Force base near Cyanne mountain, aware of the Stargate Programme as well.
Tragedy hit the family, Aeryn was four, Syd was a Captain by then and David a Lt. Colonel leading his own SG team. David was killed in action off world defending a race of people against the Goa'uld. Syd was heartbroken, and her daughter was too young to understand what was going on. Having her daughter to take care of, Syd sought a teaching position at the Air Force Academy and when the Stargate Academy was opened, she was asked to teach there. In a stable position she would be able to be at home more often and be less at risk, (though she knows the risk is still there) of anything happening to her leaving her daughter orphaned.

Late Husband: Lt Colonel David Mutz USAF SG-13

Personality: Syd has quite a funny character about her. She has a healthy sense of humour. She is also caring but tries not to let her emotions get the best of her. She is an Officer of the US Air Force and she acts accordingly. When is comes to love and relations with the opposite sex she is somewhat hardend to it since the death of her late husband five years ago, and even though she no longer wears her wedding ring, she is not yet ready to move on in that aspect.
Syd is a bit strict when it comes to her students. She expects their best when it comes to their school work and will excepts nothing less. But she is understandable, yet not a pushover. Syd plays nice with others and even doesn't mind the presence of the few civilians that at the academy, she doesn't hold their non-military status against them as some others might.

Roleplay Example:
Syd was sitting at her desk at the Academy, her hands and fingers clasped together sitting on top of her head. She was weird like that. Her excuse was that she just needed to find a place to occupy her hands or they would become restless when she was bored and most likely would attempt to take something electronic apart. She had been in her office for the past hour and would be for another hour. Office hours. Since many of the cadets in her class had different schedules she had to give them time, hence the two hour window of opportunity before she headed home for the day. She had a nice little house on base.
In her silence, Syd was staring at the wall, more particularly she was starring at the folded flag that she had framed. This particular flag had been presented to her at her husband's funeral 5 years before. That had been the only memento of David in her office, the rest she had at home. On her desk she had a picture of herself and Aeryn, it had been taken just a few months before. It was hard to believe that she was nine years old already. She was growing up soo fast.
Breaking out of her day dreaming, she then noticed that she could be doing some of the paper work that was sitting on her desk. It wasn't going to do itself and she did have the time since no students were showing up. With a sigh, she grabbed the first file on her desk and started to work, slightly praying a student would come by.
